When we don't forgive, we place ourselves into a strong adversarial system designed to ruin the enjoyment of life for all who buy into it. Letting God handle our accounts (and who owes us what) does not mean "they got away with it." The Holy Spirit is much more imaginative about how to deal with those who spitefully use us than we could possibly be. And much more capable of making His plans happen. Forgiving in Christ is the only way we can receive healing and insure that our pain is meaningful.
